The final match of the round between the Newcastle and the St. George Illawarra- for the Alex McKinnon Cup – at McDonald Jones Stadium should be a cliff hanger.
In a move that is expected to yield positive results Knights coach Nathan Brown has shifted the dynamic Kalyn Ponga to fullback.
Ponga, who turned 21 last weekend, partnered his captain Mitchell Pearce in the halves in the first two matches and for the first hour against the Canberra Raiders in round three.
However, he was transferred to fullback for the last 20 minutes of the game and the Knights looked better for the change.
Brisbane looked doomed to another loss when the club meets Sydney in the round-opener at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday night.
After thrashing the New Zealand Warriors last week Manly will be brought back to earth against South Sydney at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday while Melbourne will continue on the side’s winning way against the struggling Canterbury Bankstown at AAMI Park on Sunday.
