A vital clash for Essendon coach John Worsfold looms when the Bombers meet Greater Western Sydney at Marvel Stadium on Thursday night.
At the beginning of the season Essendon was rated as a “certain” finals prospect and possibly a premiership contender.
However, even though the club has suffered injuries such as those to Joe Daniher and Jake Stringer the side has performed well below expectations and Worsfold is being held accountable.
With Essendon in 10th place on the ladder with six wins and seven losses considerable pressure will be on the side as the Bombers go up against the third-placed Giants.
It would be a major upset if G.W.S. loses so the situation does not look like improving as far as Worsfold is concerned.
Another coach whose position is in jeopardy is St Kilda’s Alan Richardson, whose side is 11th also with six wins and seven losses.
The pressure on Richardson is expected to become worse for him with another defeat coming up against the ninth-placed Richmond at Marvel Stadium on Sunday.
