NRL Round 11 Selections by Graeme Kelly

All the NRL news this week has been around Sydney.

The announcement by Cooper Cronk, who has established himself as the game’s greatest-ever half-back, that he will be retiring at the end of the season captured the biggest headlines.

This immediately began predictions about who will replace him in the No.6 jumper.

That player will be on a $1 million a season and the hot favourite is Latrell Mitchell.

Mitchell has all the attributes necessary being fast, strongly built and having already expressed a desire to play half-back.

The Roosters, third, will also feature in this weekend’s marquee match when they play Newcastle, sixth, at McDonald Jones Stadium.

Although the Knights have the home ground advantage – this seems to be becoming a continually-increasing factor – Sydney should have the edge with captain Boyd Cordner and winger Daniel Tupou returning to the line-up.
