English trainer Hugh Morrison hoped his grand galloper Marmelo will make it third time lucky in the Melbourne Cup next week, and said that despite a precautionary X-Ray there is nothing to be concerned about for a horse who rules the roost at his home stables like no other.
Morrison went straight to Werribee having just arrived from the UK to see the seven-year-old entire, who was runner-up to Cross Counter in last year’s Cup, having been unplaced as favourite the year before.
He said he wasn’t worried about his horse’s condition — and nor was jockey Hugh Bowman who reported Marmelo to be in even better condition than last year.
