The 13 yearlings by Brazen Beau in Book 1 of the Magic Millions Yearling Sale catalogue have suddenly increased in considerably value, on two occasions.
The first of these followed the brilliant debut of Godolphin’s Brazen Beau colt Tassort in the Golden Gift (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens on November 24.
Although Tassort had only three rivals the authority of his victory stamped him as a colt of exceptional ability.
It also led to him being elevated to favouritism for the 2019 Golden Slipper Stakes.
Then the Star Thoroughbreds’ colt Accession impressively won, rather ironically as far as the Magic Millions is concerned, the $500,000 Inglis Nursery at Randwick on December 15.
After the event Denise Martin, Chris Waller and Hugh Bowman were in agreement that the win was only the beginning for the Brazen Beau colt.
The performances of Tassort and Accession indicated that Brazen Beau, who stands at Darley in Victoria, has an extremely bright future as a sire.
A son of I Am Invincible he was a winner of the Newmarket Handicap-Gr.1, Coolmore Stud Stakes-Gr.1 and two Group 2s as well as finishing second in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes-Gr.1 at Royal Ascot.
He was acknowledged as Australian Champion Colt of the 2014-15 season.
With such an impressive record Brazen Beau was the leading first season sire at the 2018 yearling sales and those seeking his progeny will have to be prepared to pay higher prices as 2019 unfolds.
The likely highlight of the yearlings by Brazen Beau at the Magic Millions will be Lot 418, which is Bhima Stud’s colt from the Fastnet Rock mare Breccia, who is a half-sister to Toorak Handicap winner Allez Wonder.
A winner of two races Breccia produced Tivaci from a mating with High Chaparral.
Tivaci proved himself to be a classy performer with triumphant performances in the All-Aged Stakes-Gr.1, VRC C.C. Hayes Stakes-Gr.3, Sunshine Coast Guineas-Gr.3 and Kensington Stakes-LR.
He was also second in the Bobbie Lewis Handicap-Gr.2 and third in the Cantala Stakes-Gr.1 and Toorak Handicap-Gr.1.
The earliest indication of the demand for Brazen Beau’s progeny will come on the first day when his colt from Tavistock mare Sylvian enters the ring as Lot 202.
It is the first foal from Sylvian, who was a winner and is a half-sister to T.J.Classic-Gr.1 winner Rinky Dink.
It is the family of Clearly Innocent and Sale of Century, who are winners at the elite level, and Affleck, who was a Champion Two-Year-Old and Three-Year-Old in Singapore in 2014 and 2015.
The lot numbers of the other yearlings by Brazen Beau in Book 1 are 236, 356, 416, 464, 544, 549, 563, 587, 705, 747 and 861.
Another very interesting offering with a connection to the Darley stallion is Lot 91, which is a three-quarter brother to Brazen Beau.
He is by I Am Invincible from the Fomalhaut mare Sancelia, who is a half-sister to Brazen Beau.
This is the second foal from Sancelia, who raced only three times.
Her first foal is a two-year-old of the current season.
