The  2019 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale has considerable depth among the 786 lots catalogued.

The offering features relations to 73 stakes winners as well as the progeny of 84 stakes-winning mares.

This follows on from the success the Melbourne Premier has had during the last 12 months with the likes of four-time Group 1 winner Santa Anna Lane, Blue Diamond Stakes-Gr.1 winner Written By, Champagne Stales-Gr.1 winner Seabrook and star fast-finishing three-year-old Ringerdingding being graduates.

A sibling to Seabrook will be available for purchase when the four-day sale begins on March 3

Buyers will also have the opportunity to purchase siblings to Melbourne Cup-Gr.1 winner Shocking, Caulfield Cup-Gr.1 winner Boom Time and to Cox Plate-Gr.1 winner Pinker Pinker.

The stakes winning mares with progeny entered include Bel Mer, Universal Queen, In The Gold, Linky Dink and Quintessential.

An intriguing part of any yearling sale is the presence of first season sires, with 22 of the 120 sires represented in next year’s catalogue being in that category.

These are Vancouver, Pride Of Dubai, Press Statement, Kermadec, Exosphere, Spill The Beans, Scissor Kick, No Nay Never, Headwater, Outreach, Real Impact, Trust In A Gust, Contributer, Free Eagle, Jubali, Night Of Thunder, Nostradamus, Ready For Victory, Bullpoint, Rich Enuff, Super One and Vespa.

The established sires with yearlings entered include Snitzel, I Am Invincible, Fastnet Rock, Exceed And Excel, Written Tycoon, Zoustar, Sebring, Pierro, Not A Single Doubt, Choisir, Hinchinbrook, Lonhro, Magnus, Medaglia d’Oro, Nicconi and Tavistock.

The leading vendors are Supreme Thoroughbreds with 44 entries, Maluka Thoroughbreds (31), Blue Gum Farm (30), Erinvale Thoroughbreds (27) and Rosemont Stud (25).

In addition to the yearlings a highlight of the sale will be the opening of new facilities at the Oaklands complex.

Around $8 million has been spent on renovations at the sales arena, which Inglis administrators believe will make it into one of the best auction houses in the world.

“The renovations are coming along nicely and everybody will see the stunning new development when they attend the Premier,” says Inglis Victorian Bloodstock Manager Simon Vivian.

“The breeders and vendors who have supported the sale will be very pleased with what they see.

“They have been very supportive in supporting the Melbourne Premier yet again and we are always very grateful for that.

“The sale has produced some outstanding horses in recent times and I have no doubt there are many more like them among the 2019 catalogue.”
