Doncaster, Day 2 Preview by Carlo Zuccoli

Doncaster (England), Thursday September 13th 2018,

By Carlo Zuccoli

Ladies’ Day, going good to soft, H. 1.50PM GMT: they will be off and running in the British Stallion Studs EBF “Carrie Red” Fillies Nursery Handicap, Class 2, 6f111y, for 2yo fillies only, with a total prize money of £ 45.000.

The ground should be good to soft and probably good in places and the pace in this race should be very strong.

The winner should come out of the following three fillies: Gallovie (GB) (Kyllachy), at 11/2, Winter Light (GB) (Bated Breath), at 11/2 and Lady Cosette (FR) (Wootton Basset), at 7/2 (heavily backed from 5/1), blinkered for the first time, but still a maiden.

The Timeform adjusted for the race gives the following ratings: 94p, 100p and 101p (top rating).

Personally, I fancy Winter Light because last time out won very well at Brighton and she is ridden by Ryan Moore.

Generally speaking when the Jeremy Noseda trained horses are heavily backed they run well (Lady Cosette, paid € 250,000 at one of the Breeze Up).

Two favourites out of ten won this race in the last ten years,

At 2.25 GMT William Hill May Hill Stakes, Gr-2, 1m (straight), for 2yo fillies, with a total prize money of £ 70.000.

Very, very tricky race, but the pace will be extreme. I think the favourite Dubai Beauty (IRE) (Frankel), is a risk at 9/4 (heavily backed from 7/2), but when she won first time out (she had only one race) she recorded a very good time and she is entered in the Fillies Mile, Gr-1.

The Timeform gives her the rating of 113P ((the capital P means that the horse is almost certainly capable of much better) while the top rating goes to Dutch Treat (GB) (Dutch Art): she was second in a Listed race at Newbury, a racecourse which more or less has the same features of the Town Moor.

Her dam is by Daylami so she should stay very well.

Her price is 11/1 and she good be a tempting each way proposition and her trainer is the in-form Andrew Balding.

The fast pace should suit my selection.

Some very shrewd punters have selected Peach Tree (IRE) (Galileo): Aidan O’ Brien horses are running well now so she could be very dangerous at 5/1 an she is a front runner.

Six favourites out of ten won tis race in the last ten years.

At 3.00 GMT DFS Park Hill Stakes, Gr-2, 13/4m115y, for 3yo+ fillies and mares, with a total prize money of £ 100.000.

The pace should be quite weak.

Pilaster (GB) (Nathaniel) is my nap of the day: she is at 6/5 (she was a 2/1 shot) and she is the favourite with a Timeform of 119p.

Last time out, at Goodwood, over a distance of 14f she completed a hat – trick beating by a head Maid Up, who has been supplemented at a cost of £ 50.000 for the William Hill St. Leger.

Second favourite at 9/4 (top Timeform rating of 120) is Horseplay (GB) (Cape Cross), who finished fourth in the Yorkshire Oaks behind Sea of Class (IRE) (Sea the Stars), who is one of the favourites of the Arc de Triomphe.

She is by Cape Cross and she probably need very good ground while Pilaster dam is by Hernando, and she will handle the ground without any problem.

This race is considered the St. Leger for fillies.

Three favourites out of ten won this race in the last ten years.

Good luck!
