Of the 2008 runners super sire Danehill had 1505, or an exceptional 76.9 per cent, were winners.
His progeny won 349 stakes races – a world record – on both sides of the equator at a ratio of 17.4 per cent and of those 89 were Group 1 winners.
At last count Danehill, who was by Danzig, had 114 sons and 56 grandsons at stud in Australia as well as 459 daughters.
Added to that three Australian Champion Sires – Exceed and Excel, Fastnet Rock and Redoute’s Choice – are by Danehill.
As a result his direct influence and that of Danzig appears time-and-again amongst the 450 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale lots to be offered at the Riverside stables on April 9 and 10.
This impact is evident from Lot 1 which is a chestnut filly by Choisir – a grandson of Danehill – from Fashion, who is by Danzig’s son Anabaa.
The trend continues with Lot 2 which is a bay colt by Redoute’s Choice from Fashion Police by Danehill’s Golden Slipper Stakes winning son Danzero and so it goes on.
Coolmore’s Fastnet Rock, with 31, has the largest representation of Danehill’s champion sires while Redoute’s Choice has 22 and Exceed and Excel just 13.
Snitzel, a son of Redoute’s Choice and winner of the last two Australian Sires’ Championship, has the largest draft in the catalogue with 37 yearlings.
There are 39 siblings to Group 1 winners such as The Autumn Sun, Merchant Navy, Sunlight, Lankan Rupee, Brazen Beau, Shoals, Fawkner, Starspangledbanner, Catchy, Dundeel, Lucky Bubles, Shooting to Win, She Will Reign, Shamus Award and Pinot.
There are also 34 Group 1-winning mares with yearlings including Hasna, River Dove, Pear Tart, Our Egyptian Raine, Rostova, Steps in Time, Brazilian Pulse, Provocative, Headway and Dizelle.
Indicating the tight selection process there are only seven first season sires represented in the catalogue.
The first of these, alphabetically, is the Irish-bred High Chaparral horse Contributer, whose wins featured the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes.
Then comes the Lonhro horse Exosphere, who was triumphant in the Golden Rose-Gr.1 and three Group 2 events.
He is followed by the New Zealand-bred Kermadec, by Teofilo, whose highlight victories were in the George Ryder Stakes-Gr.1 and Doncaster Handicap-Gr.1.
Deauville Prix Morny-Gr.1 winner No Nay Never, by Scat Daddy, is next on the list and then comes Blue Diamond Stakes-Gr.1 and ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes-Gr.1 winner Pride of Dubai, who is a son of Street Cry.
The Japanese-bred Deep Impact horse Real Impact – a winner of the Tokyo Yasuda Kinen-Gr.1 before coming down under to win the George Ruder-Gr.1 follows.
The Group is completed by the Golden Slipper Stakes-Gr.1 winner Vancouver, by Medaglia D’Oro, who has the largest representation of the first season sires with 25 yearlings in the catalogue.
Pride of Dubai has 19 but the contribution by Contributer, Exosphere, Kermadec, No Nay Never and Real Impact is limited.
