Carnival is over, but raiders gear up for Perth group 1 riches by Michael Lynch

The carnival may be over – save for the Ballarat Cup which officially ends the spring racing season next Saturday –  but that doesn’t mean the pursuit of group 1 glory ends for the year.

Several Victorian gallopers are being lined up for a trip to Western Australia over the next six weeks, where rich prizes – the group 1 Railway Stakes, Winterbottom Stakes and Kingston Town Classic along with the group 2 Perth Cup – are to be contested.
