Cloak failed on softer ground at Rosehill but right back on track with a solid 2nd in Newcastle Spring Stakes [1600m]. Thirds placed Greysful Glamour has since franked that form.
Mickey Blue Eyes just failed to overhaul the classy Graff in quality 1300m at Hawksbury last April and has come back well beating in-form Prince Of Caviar at Bendigo.
Purple Sector (6] getting better with each start towelling lesser lights Kembla Grange 1500m.
Madam Rouge [4] can be forgiven her failure in Tea Rose when lame. Won two of previous three.
Race 4
- Egg Tart [10]
- Ace High [9]
- Luvaluva [11]
Egg Tart lost her way after winning the 2017 Queensland Oaks but was very good when narrowly defeated in Doomben Cup and both starts this prep have been excellent.
Ace High, Victoria Derby winner looking for this trip following three starts from a break. Battled on strongly when 2nd [of 15] in 1600m Chelmsford then ridden too close in George Main.
Luvaluva has a great record at 2000m including victories in the Wakeful and Adrian Knox. Worked home nicely when resuming behind speedy Egyptian Symbol then lacked galloping room Randwick 1600m.
It’s Somewhat [2] worked home stylishly in two starts this campaign and was 3rd in Group 1 Emirates when stepping to this distance at Flemington last spring.
One Foot In Heaven [3] boasts some notable performances on the international stage including 6th 2016 Arc De Triomphe and 3rd in Hong Kong Vase. Ready to improve.
Race 5
- Trapeze Artist [2]
- Redzel [1]
- Invincible Star 7]
Trapeze Artist completed a very successful campaign last season winning group 1 TJ Smith and All Aged Stakes [both at Randwick] and lost no admirers when returning with 61kg on heavy track.
Redzel, absolute professional never in doubt when lumping 60kg to victory in 1000m Concorde. Missed a run in Shorts but is still the one they have to beat, especially from gate 1.
Invincible Star was beaten a nose by international group 1 winner Merchant Navy at Flemington last spring. Acquitted herself well in two starts since and was desperately unlucky in Shorts.
In Her Time [5] hasn’t appeared since finding trouble in Doomben 10000. Kicked of last campaign with a solid win in Gr. 1 Galaxy then “poorly ridden” when 3rd in TJ Smith.
Shoals [6] tends to fly below the radar winning seven of 11 including three Group 1’s. Raced too forward when resuming in quickly run 1000m at Moonee Valley.
Race 6
- Pretty In Pink [4]
- Miss Fabulass [2]
- Fiesta [3]
Pretty In Pink looked stakes grade in two starts last season and has attracted plenty of attention since. Charged late 3rd when 3rd in 1200m Furious then again hit the line with purpose 3rd 1400m Tea Rose.
Miss Fabulass bounced back from disappointing 6th in Furious with a dominant win in Tea Rose, obviously appreciating being ridden with greater patience.
Fiesta looked good beating Outback Barbie in the Silver Shadow before typical honest performances when runner-up in two subsequent starts this venue.
Futooh [6] proven over this journey winning listed event here in April. Caught the eye when resuming 1200m this course then back in a messy race last time.
Baccarat Baby [7] boast an imposing record in Queensland winning her past five while Maid Of Heaven [9] will relish the longer trip.
Race 7
- D’Argento [3]
- Unforgotten [7]
- Pierata [2]
D’Argento, Rosehill Guineas winner swept home from rear when 4th Happy Clapper in Doncaster this route and has done everything right since. Well weighted and drawn to get the gun run.
Unforgotten, Australian Oaks winner who has taken the next step with an eye-catching 6th in Winx Stakes and comfortable victory in Chelmsford a month ago. Take 3-7 quinella.
Pierata found Kementari too strong when 2nd andwick Guineas but did turn the tables, albeit luckily, when returning in Missile. Nailed late after racing wide here two weeks ago.
Lanciato [11] should have finished closer in Doncaster and did work home nicely when resuming in Missile. Disregard subsequent 8th when wide and in trouble.
Siege Of Quebec [16] showed tremendous courage after a torrid run in Show County before getting home in last stride after encountering traffic 1400m here Sept 15.
Duca Valentinois [5] specialst miler who did work home smartly behind Siege Of Quebec in Bill Ritchie. Massive overs.
Race 8
- Brimham Rocks [10]
- Sikandarabad [15]
- Auvray [1]
Brimham Rocks, imported 5yo knocking on the door with solid performances in three starts this camp. Set an impossible assignment 3rd The Lord Major before 2nd classy Avillius 2000m this course.
Sikandarabad has created a good impression since arriving from Ireland. Thwarted by on-pace bias 3rd Valley 2040m then again no favours luck same route. Arguably should have won past four.
Auvray was highly progressive when trained in France and while he lost his way for a time is going great guns for Richard Freedman. Brave 2nd under 59.5kg in Newcastle Cup.
Libran [3] one paced when sixth last year but is going better powering home behind Unforgotten in Chelmsford before luckless 7th in Kingston Town.
Sedanzer [5] Brisbane Cup winner looking for this trip following two starts from a break while Big Duke [2] always improves when out to this distance, and further.
Race 9
- Maximus [11]
- Right Or Wrong [7]
- Problem Solver [15]
Maximus won three of six in Victoria last campaign, always indicating better thing ahead. May have lost sight of favourite Soothing when collared late Rosehill 1100m on resumption.
Right Or Wrong, well travelled 7yo came off 130 week layoff when a fast finishing 4th Sandown 1000m
before a fighting 2nd Trekking this route.
Problem Solver was a model of consistency when last in training including a head 2nd Houtzen in Group 3 this route.
Beau Geste [9] has been off the scene since failing on heavy at Sunshine Coast in June but usually pulls out a big run fresh.
Perizada [3] capable mare struck interference at a critical stage when 5th behind Invincibella in Group 2 at Rosehill.
Coruscate [10] failed to reach expectations when campaigning in Victoria last season but has come back well scoring at Warwick Farm and Canterbury.
