FLEMINGTON

Assessed soft 7

Race 1

  1. Rubisaki [13]
  2. Call Me Shamus [8]
  3. St Edwards Crown [2]
  4. The Astrologist [1]i

Rubisaki caught the eye when a fast finishing 2nd on debut at Warrnambool before powering through the line when successful over 1200m at Seymour, suggesting she’ll run the 1400m right out.

Call Me Shamus has acquitted himself well in all three starts and is proven on all surfaces – worked home stylishly behind Can’t Be Done on soft 7 at Sandown last Saturday. HUGE VALUE

St Edward’s Crown has a touch of class – ran home strongly behind speedy Sebrakate 1200m this course before overpowering Lesage when dropping back to 1100m.

The Astrologist unbeaten in two starts this year leading throughout over 1200m at Cranbourne and Caulfield. Wide draw makes it tougher on first attempt at 1400m while Skiddaw [7] has claims in a difficult race.

Race 2

  1. Mamzelle Tess [1]
  2. Flying Krupt [2]
  3. Ice Girl 5]
  4. Cincinnati Red [8]

Mamzelle Tess was placed behind Invincibella in Gr.2 Blazer over this route last spring and is going equally well finishing close-up in Gr. 1 Sangster before solid efforts here May 8 and June 9.

Flying Krupt always runs to the mark. No luck in Gr. 3 Morphettville 1200m then only nailed final 50m 4th King’s Brook this course/distance. Senior rider a plus.

Ice Girl gave away impossible starts at Sandown and this course May 18 then held-up in straight when ½ length 4th King’s Brook. VALUE

Cincinnati Red, strong finisher looking for this trip following seconds Ballarat 1100m and Swan Hill 1300m.

Angelic Spirit [3] capable on her day but is unreliable. Drops 4.5kg on first-up 7th Bad Wolf this route when did too much early.

Race 3

  1. Milwaukee [2]
  2. Spending To Win [4]
  3. Single Bullet [6]
  4. Bel Sonic [7]

Milwaukee, straight special back on song following four starts from a lengthy absence. Lumped 58.5kg to victory in bench 84 this route before fighting 2nd in-form Order Of Command in listed event.

Spending To Win has been racing consistently in stronger fields in Sydney and he did beat the classy Eduardo when campaigning in Victoria last spring. Handles wet.

Single Bullet has been carefully placed since seconds in Gr. 2 Roman Consul and Gr.3 Red Anchor last season. Defeated classy sprinter Jungle Edge, albeit carrying 12.5kg less, at Randwick two starts ago.

Bel Sonic needs the breaks to fall his way but is at the top of his game and is especially effective on soft ground.

Invincible  Al [5] can be forgiven latest 7th this course when raced inferior ground. Hit the line strongly 3rd in-form Bandipur on resumption three weeks earlier while I’m Telling Ya [13] can surprise at big odds.

Race 4

  1. Chouxting The Mob [3]
  2. Last Week [6]
  3. Observational 5]
  4. Octabello [7]

Chouxting The Mob has really come solid following 12 months on the sidelines winning four of past five.

Much too good for Last Week here two weeks ago and is 2.5kg better off at weights. Loves wet.

Last Week created a big impression earlier in his career and could be back on track after a disappointing spring. Caught in a pocket at a crucial stage 2nd this route June 8.

Observational has a good record over staying trips at Flemington overpowering lighter-weighted Sin To Win on ANZAC Day. Hit out nicely latest 3rd Chouxting The Mob.

Octabello has mixed his form since surprise Cranbourne Cup [2025m] victory last spring. Will benefit from first attempt at 2500m when led inside final furlong.

Flow Meter [10] appreciates soft ground and is drawn to get a soft run. Can place at huge odds.

Adds value to exotics.

Race 5

  1. Galaxy Raider 1]
  2. Street Tough [12]
  3. Laure Me In 3]
  4. Moor Wanted [7]

Galaxy Raider was travelling like a winner when brought down at Flemington on Cup Day [soft] but has put that behind him hitting the line with gusto 6th this route May 4.

Street Tough has won four of seven in Tasmania but importantly was a head 3rd behind smart sprinters Brave Song and Order Of Command over 1100m here last July.

Laure Me In, progressive 4yo who will be better over 1600m but he did kick of last campaign with an unlucky head 2nd Morphettville 1200m. Middle gate a plus.

Moor Wanted found the class too strong in Topaz but previous effort this course was excellent while Groundbreak [11] and Sweet Snitty [13] have claims in an extremely open race.

Connery was ultra-impressive defeating Travismyfriend (subsequent nose 2nd Street Sheikh) over 1600m at Hillside (pictured) before suffering a chequered passage in the Swan Hill Cup. Image: Racing Photos, Pat Scala.

Race 6

  1. Connery [5]
  2. Tan Tat Trusting 1]
  3. Five Kingdom [4]
  4. Curragh [2]

Connery, talented 4yo back to best following an extended break winning at Warrnambool and Sandown [1600m] before running out of room in Swan Hill Cup. Handles all surfaces.

Tan Tat Trusting hasn’t finished outside the top-four in past 12 starts up to 1600m – defeated subsequent Brisbane listed winner Vinland Parks 1400m before narrow victory in Swan Hill Cup.

Five Kingdom, improving 4yo won three [1400m-1800m] of five last campaign and did catch the eye when returning under 57kg here two weeks ago. Weight relief will help offset wide draw.

Curragh lost his way last spring but latest efforts encouraging powering home 4th Morphettville 1600m before a fighting 3rd in Swan Hill Cup while Sacred Theme [6] goes in exotics.

Race 7

  1. Gytrash [1]
  2. Halvorsen [2]
  3. Bam’s On Fire [4]
  4. Thine Is The Power [9]

Gytrash boasts an excellent in record in SA and has transferred that form to Victoria just failing behind Diamond winner Written By at Caulfield last spring as a powerful victory here a fortnight ago.

Halvorsen has come a long way since breaking his maiden at Kyneton last October. Demolished his rivals in Caulfield Vobis Gold Dash before peaking on run [6 week break] 2nd Gytrash 1000m this course.

Bam’s On Fire had no luck in Gr.2 Karrakatta Plate [1200m] when trained in WA and have been very sharp in four locals starts, winning three.

Thine Is The Power has had nothing go her way in past three starts at Caulfield and is best assessed on her fast finishing nose 2nd Causeway Girl over the straight 1100m Mar 16.

Marcel From Madrid [3] was spelled after only two starts earlier this year but is right in this on his best form including runaway victory in Gr. 3 National Stakes.

Race 8

  1. Sure Knee [2]
  2. Aristocratic Miss [1]
  3. Mr Exclusive [3]
  4. Heavenly Emperor [4]

Sure Knee just failed to catch in-form Fidelia [2kg less] over this route May 18 then set an impossible task when a heavily backed favourite here two weeks ago. Drawn to settle closer.

Aristrocratic Miss is always about the money splitting Fabric and subsequent Sandown winner Tides 1400m this course before 3rd over this journey behind Heavenly Emperor.

Mr Exclusive, underrated gelding costs himself by racing too keenly 4th Fidelia this route then did all the chasing when swamped on line here June 8.

Heavenly Emperor has improved with each start since transferring from New Zealand towelling maidens over 1300m at Bendigo before last stride victory this course/distance, sprouting wings late.

Falls [12] worked home nicely in first two starts over 1200m before comfortable all-the-way victory Sandown 1400m on testing ground.

Race 9

  1. Holbien [210]
  2. Blazejowski [6]
  3. Reykjavik [8]
  4. Federal [4]

Holbein led inside the final furlong when 2 lengths astern of Manuel in Gr. 1 Orr Stakes [1400m] last Autumn and will strip fitter second-up 3rd Blazejowski this route. Well weighted and drawn.

Blazejowski has gone to a new level this prep completing winning hat-trick with a comprehensive victory over this course and distance two weeks ago. Comfortable on soft ground.

Reykjavik has a good record over 1400m in WA – winning listed Hannans Hcp – and did work home stylishly when a close 5th in Golden Topaz [1200m].
Federal, group performer who has only raced twice since 2017 Randwick Villiers but he did pick up an amazing ground in home straight 2nd [80/1] Blazejowski.

Bad Wolf [12] underrated 4yo made it back to back wins this route when successful in bench 78 on resumption while the bold going South Australian Crown Fontein [9] has won five of 10 on grass.
