AFL Round 13 Selections by Graeme Kelly

The accent will be on the caretaker coaches as Round 13 begins to unfold.

The record of North Melbourne’s Rhyce Shaw stands at two-for-two but he faces another tough assignment against Greater Western Sydney at Blundstone Arena in Hobart on Sunday.

Despite inconsistent performances the Giants are third-placed while the Kangaroos have climbed into a respectable 12th place with their last two victories.

As last week’s surprise loss to Adelaide at Adelaide Oval showed, once again, the Giants are certainly not unbeatable away from home.

On that basis North, with the club’s 200-game captain Jack Ziebell inspirational, might be able to notch another win.

After winning their first match under David Teague Carlton have an interesting assignment against the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium on Saturday night.

The Bulldogs have an array of talented players but have difficulty putting four quarters of quality football together so they are always vulnerable.

Like the Kangaroos the Blues have an inspirational leader in Patrick Cripps, who was outstanding in the come-from-behind win against Brisbane last week.

If Cripps, and those around him, perform to that level again Carlton can certainly beat the Bulldogs.
