A half-brother by Sebring to Tony McEvoy’s brilliant speedster Sunlight is foremost among  the lots related to Group 1 winners in the 2019 Magic Millions Yearling Sales catalogue.

Since being purchased for $300,000 at last January’s Magic Millions sale Sunlight has already proved to be one of the bargain buys of the turf.

Her 12 starts have yielded eight wins – six in stakes races – a second and two thirds for earnings of $3,005,950.

Her victories have featured the VRC Coolmore-Gr.1, AJC Silver Slipper-Gr.2, Magic Night Stakes-Gr.3, MRC Quezette Stakes-Gr.3, Thoroughbred Club Strakes-Gr.3 and, of course, this year’s Gold Coast TC Magic Millions Two-Year-Old Classic-RL.

That, with more to come, has made her virtually priceless because of her potential as a broodmare.

While her half-brother will be in the spotlight there is a vast array of 36 yearlings related to Group 1 winners to choose from.

These include full relations to  Awesome Rock, Estijaab, Jameka, Mustaqueem, Rafeef and Secret Agenda.

Interestingly there is also a three-quarter sister to Secret Agenda along with other three-quarter relations to Amanpour, Brazen Beau, Criterion, Dissident, Lucky Bubbles, Nechita, Sacred Star and Stratum Star.

There are also half-relations to the likes to Aloha, D’Argento, Foxplay, Griante, Levendi, Oohood, Platelet, Reann, Viddora and Yankee Rose.

The appearance of those youngsters in the ring will be among the many highlights at the sale, which commences Wednesday, January 9.

A total of 1,122 have been confirmed by vendors, which includes a record of 888 yearlings in Book 1.

“Again in 2019 the breeders have stepped up to the plate, with unprecedented support for the sale,” says Magic Millions managing director Barry Bowditch.

“The depth and quality of the catalogue will present buyers with a selection of Australia’s best yearlings, like no other sale.

“The sale is number one for producing breed shapers and record breakers including Winx and Redzel, who are the two highest stake earners in the nation’s racing history.”

Mr Bowditch says that in Books 1 and 2 a total of 103 individual stallions will be represented, of which 19 are first season sires.
