Oohood out to end Guineas drought for fillies by Michael Lynch

Tony McEvoy is not afraid to roll the dice. The trainer is essentially having a $1.5 million bet by fielding Oohood against the colts, headed by hot favourite The Autumn Sun, in Saturday’s Caulfield Guineas.

Oohood will aim to break a 42-year drought for fillies when she contests the 1600-metre classic race, which is invariably dominated by colts and geldings, connections having eschewed the opportunity to race against her own age and sex in the Thousand Guineas earlier in the day.
