Newmarket (ENG) Sep 27 Preview by Carlo Zuccoli

Hi guys, we are back in business for the important three-day Meeting at Newmarket, on the Rowley Mile.

Rowley Mile: what is that?

Newmarket, Co. Suffolk, 65 miles North of London, is the Head Quarters of British flat racing, the home of the Jockey Club and the biggest training centre in the country: there are two racecourses, very close each other, the July Course, used during the Summer, and the one named after Charles II (1630 – 1685), which is used in the Spring and in the Autumn.

“Old Rowley” is the nick name of King Charles II, because it was the name of his hack.

King Charles II is the one who made Newmarket a centre for racing and training.

During the three days we’ll have a chance of watching and  betting on 3 Listed races, 2 Group 3, 3 Group 2 and 2 Group 1: not bad at all.

Let’s fasten our seat belts starting our journey trying to get the right selections to make the bookies cry.

Thursday September 27th 2018, going good, good to firm in places, H. 1.50PM GMT: they will be off and running in Bonhams EBF Maiden Stakes, Class 4, 1m, for 2yo colts & gelding, with a total prize money of £ 10,000.

High class Maiden: the high numbers will have a disadvantage.

Theoretically the winner should come out of the following four horses: Constantinople (IRE) (Galileo), trained by Aidan O’Brien, at Ballydoyle, Co. Tipperary, Ireland, ridden by Ryan Moore with a Timeform Rating, adjusted for the race, of 94P (the capital P means that the horse is almost certainly capable of much better), at a price of 7/2, Fujaira King (USA), paid Guineas 220.000 as a yearling, unraced, with a potential Rating of 91, trained at Newmarket, Suffolk, by Roger Varian, ridden by Andrea Atzeni, at a price of  14/1, Kick On (GB) (Charm Spirit), paid Guineas 135,000 as a yearling, trained at Newmarket, Suffolk, by John Gosden, ridden by Oisin Murphy, with the top Rating of 112p,  at a price of  10/3, Bangkok (IRE) (Australia), paid Guineas 500,000 as a yearling, with a Rating of 107, trained at Kingsclere, Hampshire, by Andrew Balding, ridden by Silvestre De Sousa, at a price of 4/1 (the owner is Mr. Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, who controls and chairs $3.3 billion (revenues) King Power, Thailand’s leading operator of duty-free stores) which a few years ago bought the Leicester City Football Club.

Let’s go for Costantinople.

3.35 GMT: they will be off and running in Tattersalls Stakes (Somerville), Gr-3, 7f, for 2yo colts & geldings, with a total prize money of £ 50.000.

Prince Eiji (GB) (Dubawi) was bought at the yearling sales by HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Obaid bin Thani Al Maktoum for Guineas 2,600,000 and he won first time out.

His price is 2/1, not very exciting.

The Timeform gives the top Rating, 118, to both Cardini (USA) (Magician) and Dunkerron (GB) (Kurashio), so by an Australian sire.

The latter is at 6/1 and the former at 5/2.

I give credit to Cardini who was third in the Champagne Stakes, Gr-2, won by Too Darn Hot (GB) (Dubawi).

4.10 Jockey Club Rose Bowl Stakes, Listed, 2m, for 3yo+, with a total prize money of £ 40,000.

Every figure, every rating is for Sevenna Star (IRE) (Redoute’s Choice) at 5/1: a good each way.

I don’t fancy the ultra – consistent Sheikhzayedroad /^(GB) (Dubawi) who is 9 (his price is 11/4).

Good luck!
