Racing Victoria hopes its broadcast partners will boost their free-to-air racing coverage through winter in the absence of AFL or any other live sport, beginning with this weekend’s Anzac Day meeting at Flemington.

Seven Network has had a long-term relationship with racing and televises the main meetings through the spring and autumn carnivals in Melbourne and Sydney on its main platform, reaching a far wider audience than the industry’s day-to-day broadcaster Racing.com.

Channel Ten provided coverage of the 2019 four-day Flemington Melbourne Cup carnival, the first year in a five-year $100 million deal to showcase the biggest week in the Australian racing calendar.
