
Irish jockey Johnny Allen made his name in Australia by booting home big winners at the famous Warrnambool May carnival, landing multiple Galleywood Hurdle and Grand Annuals over fences and hurdles as well as the Warrnambool Cup on the level.
But the high-flying rider has opted to give Victoria’s biggest country racing carnival a miss this year.
Instead he has chosen to put himself into lockdown – and miss out on the chance of rides and earnings – for four weeks in a bid to land some rich group 1 prizes in Adelaide instead.
