Race 5

  1. Pacodali [1]
  2. Thunder Cloud [7]
  3. Beau Balmain [5]
  4. Lamborghini [2]

Pacodali, classy import hit a purple patch last season winning three [2000m-2050m] on the trot before unlucky 2nd in Moe Cup. Back on song towelling favourite Live And Free at Caulfield two weeks ago.

Thunder Cloud has been consistent since joining new stable. Held up at a critical stage 2nd Morphettville 2000m then anchored 60kg when 5th in Benchmark 84 this route.

Beau Balmain showed plenty of promise when trained in Germany winning two of four. Worked home stylishly when 3rd Pacodali on local debut.

Lamborghini has been in career best form this year – winning three as well as placing in Hobart and Launceston Cups – and did pick up late when returning over 1600m at Flemington.

Mawaany Machine [6] won three [6 minors] when trained in Ireland and is ready to improve following two starts over shorter distances.

Race 6

  1. American In Paris [6]
  2. Dogmatic [1]
  3. Mangione [2]
  4. Crockett [4]

American In Paris has improved since stepping up in distance placing in listed Galilee [2400m] and VRC St Leger. Simply found the 2000m too sharp around Caulfield but did hit the line with intent. Over the odds.

Dogmatic has gone to new level since moving to Cranbourne beating older horses at Ballarat before doing it easily over 2000m at Caulfield 2000m – both on soft ground.

Mangione failed to stay 2500m in SA Derby but previous form in Sydney was sound and does meet Dogmatic 3kg better for Caulfield 3rd.

Crockett is on trial at the trip but is drawn to get a cosy run. Got clear too late 5th Flemingon 1400m before 3rd emerging Harbour Views Swan Hill 1600m.

Tysonic [11] has either been posted wide or caught in traffic in her five starts this campaign. Query at 2100m but did take off early at Caulfield.

Race 7

  1. Street Sheik [12]
  2. Hypnos [1]
  3. Heir To The Throne [13]
  4. Ballet Master [17]

Street Sheik was thwarted by muddling speed 2nd in-form Adversary over this distance at Bendigo then much too good for lesser lights when dropping back to 1400m in Adelaide. Effective all surfaces.

Hypnos boasts an outstanding record in New Zealand winning Ellerslie listed  event on heavy before close 2nd Madison County [2nd AJC Derby] in Gr. 1 Levin Classic [1600m]. Worked home nicely undrer 60kg Caulfield 1400m.

Heir To The Throne has a good record at Sandown including 3rd Hillside 1600m when allowed leaders too much leeway. Handles soft and heavy.

Ballet Master, underrated 5yo shaping as though this distance will suit powering to line 2nd English import Buffalo River Ballarat 1400m before head 2nd speedy Pria Eclipse this course.

Riydah [3] is going much better than his bare form would suggest and can surprise at huge odds.

Race 8

  1. Odeon [2]
  2. Waging War [5]
  3. Mr Marathon Man [1]
  4. Al Galayel [3]

Odeon has been competitive in much tougher company since his last victory 17 months ago. Bumped on home turn in Easter Cup then nailed on line after going much too early Flemington 1600m.

Waging War was beaten less than 4 lengths when 6th in Gr. 1 Toorak Hcp [1600m] last spring and is back on song winning Parks 1550m.

Mr Marathon Man won four of 15 when trained in France – including listed 1800m on heavy at Longchamp – and is ready to fire following two starts off a 46 week layoff. Worked early 4th Flemington 1400m.

Al Galayel was spelled after tailing off in Hobart Cup [2400m] in Feb but has won four of 11 since arriving from England and is good fresh, scoring over 1600m at Hillside last June.

Spanner Head [8] honest mare quick to hit her straps this campaign just failing to overhaul Twitchy Frank Caulfield 1400m before winning open hcp at Flemington while Torgersen [4] adds huge value to exotics.

Race 9

  1. Asgard Massif [1]
  2. Our Campana [5]
  3. Buffalo River 3]
  4. Sizzleme [6]

Asgard Massif has come back stronger this prep leading throughout over 1400m at Hillside and 1440m at Caulfield – both on soft ground. Will either cross to front or sit second.
Our Campana was given too much to do under her 59kg when 5th Hillside 1300m then always in control beating older mares on similar ground this course.

Buffalo River [3] showed promise in handful of starts when trained in England and was successful on local debut leading throughout Ballarat 1400m.

Sizzleme [6] covered plenty of extra ground when 11th G.1 Schweppes Oaks although is best assessed on previous efforts this season including 3rd Verry Elleegant in Gr. 3 Ethereal.

Gennady [8] lightly raced colt got home in last stride to break maiden at Mornington before scraping home over 1300m this course. Under the odds.
