It will be a serious test of the maturity of the Brisbane players when the Lions host Hawthorn at the Gabba on Saturday night.
Coach Chris Fagan and his team have three obstacles to overcome going into the match.
Firstly there is the recovery from the long trip to Perth, a six day turn around and the disappointment of suffering a defeat against Fremantle with a point registered after the final siren.
At the same time the Lions have won three of the last five confrontations with the Hawks.
The latest of these was the 98 to 65 victory in round 17 last year.
Added to that Hawthorn will be without “Big Boy” McEvoy, who has an ankle strain, and this will obviously help the Brisbane cause.
Sadly for caretaker coach Rhyce Shaw there is not likely to be any joy for him when North Melbourne goes up against Richmond at Marvel Stadium on Friday night.
Even though the Tigers are injury riddled they should still have the necessary equipment to beat the Kangaroos.
