Coach Adam Simpson, quite rightly, questioned the desire of the West Coast players after another dismal performance against Geelong.
The reigning premiers are down in 12th place on the premiership ladder with three wins and three losses.
However, the Eagles have a golden opportunity to return to the winning list against the Gold Coast at Optus Stadium on Saturday night.
Even though the Suns are 13th, also with three wins and three losses, they are not expected to offer serious opposition so Simpson will have the opportunity of “experimenting” in a bid to rejuvenate his side.
In a rather lack lustre round Melbourne against Hawthorn at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday might be the most significant.
The Demons – earlier spoken of as premiership contenders – are 18th with one win while the Hawks registered their third victory with a come-from-behind win against Carlton.
It would appear Hawthorn should have the edge but the outcome can be expected to be close.
