Golden Slipper Stakes winner Vancouver heads the list of 19 first season sires represented at the 2019 Gold Coast Magic Millions yearling sale.

Vancouver, who stood at Coolmore at a fee of $66,000 in 2016 when this season’s yearlings were conceived, won at four of his five starts.

In addition to the Golden Slipper he was triumphant in the Todman Stakes-Gr.2, Canonbury Stakes-Gr.3 and Breeders Plate-LR.

Those performances earned Vancouver, who is by Medaglia D’Oro, the title of Australian Champion Two-Year-Old Colt for 2014-15.

Coolmore also stands Pride of Dubai, who commanded a fee of $55,000 in 2016.

A son of Street Cry he proved his ability and stallion potential by capturing the Blue Diamond Stakes-Gr.1 and ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes-Gr.1.

Next on the most expensive list is the durable performer Criterion, who stood at Newgate at a fee of $35,750.

A handsome chestnut by Sebring he ran 36 times for seven wins, seven seconds and seven thirds for earnings of over $6 million.

Four of Criterion’s successes were at the elite level in the Rosehill Guineas, Australian Derby, Caulfield Stakes and ATC Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

In addition, and most importantly from a stallion viewpoint, Criterion won three times as a two-year-old.

Those victories featured the Todman Stakes-Gr.2 and Canberra Black Opal Stakes-LR.

Exosphere and Press Statement are equal fourth with their 2016 fees having been $27,500.

Exosphere, who is by Lonhro and stands at Darley, had five wins during his racing career.

These featured the Golden Rose Stakes-Gr.1, Roman Consul Stakes-Gr.2, Run to Rose Stakes-Gr.2 and Skyline Stakes-Gr.2.

The Hinchinbrook horse Press Statement, who stands at Vinery, will remembered as a brilliant winner of the sire-making Caulfield Guineas-Gr.1.

He was also successful in J.J. Atkins (T.J.Smith) Stakes-Gr.1, Hobartville Stakes-Gr.2 and Stan Fox Stakes-Gr.2.

His placings included a second in the Randwick Guineas-Gr.1 and a third in the George Ryder Stakes-Gr.1.

The other first year stallions with yearlings going under the Magic Millions sale, beginning on January 9, with their $2016 fees are:
